The Hebrew word for memory, zakhor, is mentioned in the Bible over 150 times. Again and again we are impelled to remember – to seek connections with our past in order to construct our identities and give meaning to life in the present. In this session, we will consider the potential of objects – historical artefacts, artworks and the everyday things we surround ourselves with – to evoke, connect us with, and even reinvent, Jewish memory.
