Ruth Calderon is an Israeli academic (with a PhD in Talmud) and a politician. Until recently she was best-known as the founder of ALMA, the "Secular Yeshiva" which seeks to make Jewish culture & Torah learning available to secular Israelis.  After her election to the Knesset in 2013 for the Yesh Atid party, she turned her maiden speech - complete with Talmud lesson - into a YouTube sensation with over 150,000 hits.  Dr Calderon is a leading figure in reviving Jewish learning in a pluralistic Israeli society.
